Apply to be a Fellow
Application Period
Applications for the first GNOME Fellowship round are currently open. The deadline for applications is 20 April 2026 (23:00 UTC).
Eligibility
Applicants should be available to begin their Fellowship around May 2026, and should be able to commit to working on the Fellowship for 12 months. Availability can be either on a full-time or half-time basis.
Applicants should have previous experience working on GNOME or relevant open source projects.
Due to legal requirements, individuals located in OFAC-sanctioned nations or on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list are not eligible to apply.
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by the GNOME Foundation Fellowship Committee, which is operated by the GNOME Foundation Board of Directors. Selection will be based on applicants’ track records of contributions to GNOME or similar projects, the potential impact of the proposed work, and alignment with the program’s sustainability focus.
How to apply
Submit your application through our application form. You’ll be asked about your proposed project, relevant experience, availability, and for references.
